Who looks after your data

Shop Rate is run by JTS, a small software business based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. For anything about your data, write to shoprate@jtsapps.com. A person reads every message.

What is kept, and why

Your account: your email address, your business name if you gave one, and your password, stored only as a one-way scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the password.
Whether you have paid: your plan, its dates, and the reference Stripe gives the payment. Your card number goes to Stripe, never to JTS.
What you put into Shop Rate, so it is there next time you sign in. The section below says what that is for this tool.
Messages you send us, so we can answer them.

What is never done with it

It is never sold, never used for advertising, never shown to another customer, and never used to compare you with anyone.

Who helps us run it

Fly.io runs the servers, in Dallas, Texas, USA, where your data is stored.
Stripe takes card payments.
Google Workspace carries the email we send you and the email you send us.
Google Fonts supplies the typeface on our public pages, so Google sees your internet address when it sends it.
Cloudflare answers the lookup that turns our web address into a server address. Your visits do not pass through it.

Cookies and visit counts

One cookie keeps you signed in, and a short-lived one is used while you move between JTS tools. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
We count how many times each public page is opened, as plain numbers per page per day. No cookie is set and no internet address is kept for this.

How long it is kept, and your choices

Your data is kept while you have an account, so it is all there if you stop paying and come back.
Ask, and we send you a copy, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it. A deletion is done within 30 days; copies in our backups are overwritten in the normal backup cycle after that. Payment records the law makes us keep are kept for as long as it says.
Where the law in your country gives you more rights over your data, we honor them.
Shop Rate is made for businesses and adults, not for children.

What Shop Rate keeps from your repair orders

The tickets you bring in, as Shop Rate reads them: RO number, date, labor hours and dollars, parts sold and their cost, sublet, discounts, diagnostic time, the hours your techs were paid and comeback marks — whichever of those your file has.
Customer names and vehicles, if your export has them and you leave those columns matched on the column screen. They are kept only so you can tell tickets apart on your own screens. They are never used for anything else, never shown to anyone else, and nothing is ever sent to your customers. To leave them out, set those columns to “not in this file” before saving, or delete them from the file first.
The file you upload is only read for its tickets. Once you save, the columns you matched are kept and the file itself is not.

Earlier copies. Saving keeps up to 20 dated copies of your shop's figures, so a mistake can be undone. They go with everything else when your account is deleted.
Sample workspaces (Try it with sample numbers) start with made-up tickets and belong to no account. Each one is deleted, with anything put into it, after 24 hours.
